Goulburn Table
Tennis Rabbitohs make A Grade Grand
Final
A grade Results: 1st
Semi Terminators 5 def All Stars 3
2nd Semi Rabbitohs 6 def Bulldogs 2
This week’s Preliminary Final Bulldogs V
Terminators.
In the 1st semi final, the Terminators had a good
win. The Terminators were served by
Michael Turner, who was a late fill in, and Brice Bishop who both won 2
games. Josh Rumble also had a thrilling
5 set win over Peter Bywaters. The All stars were gallant in defeat and they
won both the doubles.
In the 2nd semi final, the Rabbitohs had a good
win over the Bulldogs. The Rabbitohs
were best served by Michael Turner who won his 3 games. Michael has been in good form of late. Michael also had a thrilling 5 set win over John Lees. Ian Emerson also had a good 5 set win over Lambert Douven. For the Bulldogs, John
Lees had a good win over Robert Mcintosh. The Preliminary final this week should be very even with the winner being
a worthy opponent for the Rabbitohs in the Grand Final.
B Grade Results: 1st Semi Gunners 6 def Sharks 5
2nd Semi Tigers 6 def Marauders 4
The first semi was a very exciting affair. The Gunners came from a 5-3 deficit to record
a great win. The Gunners were wonderfully
served by their captain, Peter Mowle, who won all his 3 games. Peter is playing very consistently now, and
is always hard to beat. Robert Mettam
also won 2 games, and the Sharks won both the doubles. For the Sharks, Djahni Fowler won 2 games. This was a disappointing result for the Sharks
as they were playing very strongly.
In the other semi, The Tigers had a win in a hard fought
game. John
Crehan won his 3 games for the Tigers. The
Marauders were best served by Steve Day who won 2 games, including a good 5 set
win over Scott Wilson. Steve Day is a
very competitive player, who really enjoys his table tennis – as well as a good
laugh. The preliminary final this week
between the Marauders and the Gunners will be a great game as both teams are
very even. A special thank you to
Michelle Bishop for filling in at the last minute.
The Goulburn Closed Championships will be held on the 28th
and 30th June. Anyone
interested to come and watch how it is done is more than welcome.
