Heat On-Court This Australia Day
38 teams from all over Queensland will converge on the city and will be fighting it our for their share of the $7000 in prize-money that is on offer.
Their will be plenty of high-level hoops on show, with former Townsville NBL players Michael & Chris Cedar and Cairns Taipans point guard Kerry Williams all suiting up. Another huge drawcard will be American import player Willie Shackleford who is lining up for the Emerald men’s division one side. The high-flying Shackleford is known for his dunking ability and has been a standout in the QBL for the last four seasons while playing for the Bundaberg Bulls.
There will also be plenty of action when the division one women hit the court, with many players from the Meteorettes QBL championship winning side taking part for their respective clubs.
Men’s division two and division three have the highest number of team nominations, with twelve and thirteen sides taking part. Souths division two men’s team are on a quest for their third straight Australia Day title and will be the team to beat when games commence.
Matches begin at the stadium on Friday night from 6pm and will run daily, until the Grand Finals are played on Monday.
