Senior Championship Weekly Wrap
4 games over the weekend were split 2-2 with our SEABL and Youth League Women getting wins, while both Men’s teams came up short. We were able to welcome back some DV legends on Saturday Night, for Life Members and Past Players night!
VYCW
Eagles 67 def. Dandenong 48
The VYCW Eagles used their depth and a massive advantage on the boards to win comfortably over the Dandenong Rangers. Up by 14 at the half, the Eagles put the game away in the 3rd quarter keeping the Rangers to just 3 points! Sharna Ayres and Amelia Smith led the way for the Eagles with 14 points each.
VYCM
Eagles 82 def. by Dandenong 103
The VYCM came up against a strong Dandenong Rangers outfit, who shot the ball at 53% from the 3 point line to knock off the Eagles. Jack Roberts had a day out, finishing with 31 points for the Eagles and Dylan Dunstan had 16 points to go along with 6 assists.
SEABL Women
Eagles 66 def. Melbourne Tigers 63
The SEABL Women had to grind out a tough win against the Tigers, in what was a close game all night. Neither team ever got out to a double figure lead, with the game coming down to the wire. Up by 1 point, the Eagles were able to force a turnover and then Australian Opal, Ezi Magbegor, was able to ice the game at the foul line. Ezi finished with 22 points and 8 rebounds in the win.
SEABL Men
Eagles 78 def. by Melbourne Tigers 85
The SEABL Men were unlucky to come away with a victory on Saturday, with the hot shooting Tigers knocking down 16 3 pointers to come away with a much needed win. Down by 1 point at 3 quarter time, the Eagles were hurt with a slow start to the final quarter.
