Senior Championship Weekly Wrap
A huge weekend for the club, with both our SEABL groups coming away with wins, while our VYCW split a tough weekend against two finals contenders.
VYCW
Eagles 66 def. Ringwood Hawks 62
Coming into the game, the Hawks had lost just 1 game this season and sat on top of the ladder. The Eagles had to grind for 4 quarters, coming up with big plays down the stretch to come away with the win. Emma Parks put the team with by 2 with 14 second left, and then Ivana Vasiljevic (16 points) iced the game from the foul line. Mikayla Peterson was once again a standout, scoring 23 points and coming away with 4 steals.
Eagles 51 def. by Sandringham Sabres 67
The Eagles had to back up the next day against a well-rested Sabres group. They were right in the game up to half time, up by 2 at the main break. Fatigue then played a factor in the second half as the Sabres pulled away. Ivana Vasiljevic and Mikayla Peterson backed up their performances from Saturday night, scoring 15 and 13 points respectively.
VYCM

SEABL Women
Eagles 68 def. by Kilsyth Cobras 70

Bree Whatman nailed a massive 3 pointer with 10 seconds left to bring the margin to 1 point, before some cool shooting from the line confirmed the win for Kilsyth. Lauren Scherf had another big game, finishing with 19 points and 19 rebounds!
