2011 SMWRL Premiers - Canley Height Dragons

The grand final 2011, Canley Heights Dragons v Forestville Ferrets.

Energy levels were high as the girls took the field, everyone knew this would not be an easy game.

Ladies were taking no prisoners once the whistle blew.  Attack from both teams was tough, but the defence was tougher.  The intencity grew as time wore on and the crowds were on the edge of their seats as they all knew it could go either way at any time.  First points on the board came from CHD when Monica Dann crossed the line at about 25mins in the game.  With the conversion unsuccessful the teams went to half time with a score of 4 - 0.

Ladies came out for second half ready to battle on.  First try in second half was scored early by Linda Robinson, with the kick converted, Forestville was up 6 - 4.  Soon after Teresa Rota from CHD came back with another uncoverted try, putting them back in front at 8 - 6.  With only 11 minutes to go, the game got tougher with neither team giving up the fight.  The last try was scored by Catrina Sparkes, taking the score board to 12 - 6.  The final whistle blew.

The two teams knew they played a respectable game of footy, they all huddled together and could hold their heads up and be proud of all their efforts.

Congratulations to both teams on a great game.
