A day without competition for the Fiji team meant for plenty of time to make the most of all the activities and events that are on offer for the athletes at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing!

FASANOC All Stars win over Ping Pong Swansong

The FASANOC All Stars Social Business House Team took part in Round 2 of the Fiji Table Tennis Business house competition at the newly opened FSC Table Tennis Centre located at the previous Laucala Bay Secondary School.

All Stars had a close win over the Ping Pong Swansong team after being level 4/4 in the singles rounds. The Doubles team of Ketan and Jeegar managed to edge out the opposition.

Youth Olympic Games - Day 5 of Competition

Meli Malani breaks the Fiji 50m Breaststroke record by .3seconds, Keasi Naidroka ran close to his Personal Best which gets him through to the next round on Saturday. Kayla Yee's 100m event resulted in a DNF result due to injury. The team had a session with a sports nutritionist speaking on a healthy sporting diet, followed by a cooking class.

From Glasgow to Golf

Bowling duo Radhika Prasad and Doreen O'Conner and Chef de Mission Lyndall Fisher upon return from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, volunteered their services to assist at the Fiji International Golf Open held at the Natadola Bay Golf Championship Golf Course.

Table Tennis OSEP & Solidarity Course underway

This week has seen the commencement of the Olympic Solidarity course - ITTF-PTT (Para Table Tennis) Level 1 Coaching / OSEP Sports Administration course. With participants travelling from Rabi and the West, the course has been well attended from people interested in establishing inclusive Table Tennis communities in their local area.

Another clear day at Nanjing was a great start to Team Fiji taking part on South Africa in Womens 5's Hockey, 50m Freestyle Swimming and a well fought match against Kenya in the Rugby 7's.

The 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games blasted off at Midnight Saturday (Fiji time)to welcome all the athletes and officials to the games and mark the official starting of the games. The Ceremony was a great event that has been shown by the media all around the world and online, it was a great experience for the athletes, some in their first major games.

Another warm, dry day welcomed the athletes in Nanjing, as the remaining athletes from across the globe move into the Athletes Village, as the last athletes and officials arrive the village is buzzing with excitement and very, very busy! The three floors of dining rooms are full almost constantly, with an amazing array of food available 24 hours a day
