Engaging in Partnerships - KNOC and KIT

At the recent ONOC Annual General Assembly OSEP prepared two case studies as part of its presentation to the 200+ delegates that came from all over Oceania. Case Study 1 highlighted the partnership between Kiribati National Olympic Committee and Kiribati Institute of Technology as a National Olympic Committee and a local Training Provider for the latter.

In attendance were Gill Gemming (acting chairperson), Jeremy Dorovolomo, James Malo, Laura Mangham, Filipe Jitoko and Dennis Miller. Apologies were received from chairman Barry Maister, Andrew Lepani and Dr Allison Simons.

First Samoan MOSO graduate

Sports Division from the Ministry of Education, Sports & Culture (MESC) was presented with his OSEP Advanced Sport Management Course (ASMC) during the opening of the MOSO IV session II in Apia Samoa.

SASNOC traditionally welcomed MOSO IV participants at their office on Tuesday Feb 17, 2015. Samoa is hosting the second session of the MOSO IV course from Feb 18 to 25, 2015.


Competition is the reason sport organisation's exist. On Wednesday Feb 18, 2015, 12 participants converged to the Samoa Association of Sport National Olympic Committee (SASNOC) office to begin the "Organising a major sport event" module.

Lady Robyn Tu'ivakano is one of 14 participants (and 1 of 7 women) that are currently in Tonga undergoing the MOSO IV course.

The second level of sports administration course called MiSO was held at Fiji Olympic House and was a success.

New inclusion - Athletes Rep

The Athletes representative on the commission is dual PNG and American national Andrew Lepani. Lepani is currently the Manager - Sports Development with the PNG Olympic Committee.

His involvement will provide a greater opportunity for athletes to promote sport training & development for its support team (coaches and administrators)

Athletics Fiji ran an Oceania Athletics Technical Officials System Course alongside an Oceania Basic Athletic System Course for Coaches on the week of 26 August 2013

Temporary Events Assistant

OSEP is looking for an Events assistant to start immediately for 9 weeks. The focus of the role is to coordinate the training logistics for the April OSEP community educators course to be held in Suva.

Paintball activity - an analogy of strategic planning

Oceania MOSO III participants were part of a unique paintball skirmish game after unit 1 of their training. With a heavy focus on fun and physical activity given the long hours of training, the activity was an opportunity to bring home the importance of strategic planning, developing SMART objectives and strategies and operationalising their plans to reach their vision.

System Development Grant launched

A grant program is available to the 15 Pacific Islands NOC that are members of ONOC.

This funding project is designed to encourage NOC's to submit proposals that are developed in consultation with partners in their countries.
