Bulleen Boomers Junior Academy 2014
The Bulleen Boomers Basketball Club is proud of the way in which we develop our young players. Part of our development program is Junior Academy – a 6 week training program specially designed for 9-10 year old players who are not currently playing Friday night championship basketball, but are interested in doing so for the 2014/2015 season.
The program is a fantastic opportunity to train with elite senior club players and representative coaches prior to tryouts in September/October 2014.

Big V Season 2014 Rnd 18 + Semi-Final
Champ Men tackle Suns for home court
The State Championship Men host the Sherbrooke Suns in an enticing 4th vs 5th match-up which sees home court advantage on the line during the first week of finals. With the guys currently in fifth position, they will be looking to gain much needed confidence heading into the finals with a victory over the Suns.
League MVP candidate Thadd Varmall (24.3ppg, 6.6rpg) will hope for a big finish to the regular season to tally what could be decisive votes. Head down on Saturday night at 7pm to cheer on the guys in what will be a very entertaining fixture.
Youth Women host Ballarat in crucial Semi-Final
In Bulleen's first finals fixture of the season, the Youth Women face a tough test against the 16-6 Ballarat Rush. Finishing 2nd in the Terrill pool, the Boomers have been granted a home court semi-final which means that they need all of the support they can get from their loud and loyal home fans! The girls faced the Rush early on in the season and scored a six point victory, however both teams have made vast improvements over that time and will need to be in top gear if they are to taste success again.
The 1pm start on Sunday the 27th of July is perfect for the family to come down and support the superstars of tomorrow and as a prelude for the State Championship Women's game played directly after.
Pearce plays 100th as Champ Women face must win clash against Falcons
It all comes down to one final game for the State Championship Women's team as the Boomers face the Waverley Falcons for the fourth and final spot in the finals. Co-Captain Lauren Pearce (11.5ppg, 7.6rpg) is set to play her 100th champ game which is a great achievement dating back to 2009 when she played game number 1.
Both Pearce and star guard Funda Nakkasoglu (21.1ppg) will be ready for the challenge as they light up the stadium last weekend with their two point victory over third placed McKinnon to keep their slim finals hopes alive. Now it's all down to Sunday when the team will face WNBL star Tegan Cunningham and the Waverley Falcons.
Come down to East Doncaster Secondary College to congratulate Lauren on her fantastic achievement of playing 100 State Championship games at 3pm on Sunday the 27th of July while cheering on the girls as they chase their first finals encounter in the last few years.
