There shall be 1 warning siren one minute prior to the start of each game and again prior to the start of the second half. The start and finish of each half will be signalled with one long siren blast.Games will commence on siren not when the teams are ready.

  • First named team to kick to the North end of the ground.
  • Team Managers must report to the Recorder located in club rooms at Moon Oval upon arrival and hand in team sheet, collect scorecards and teams playing first are to complete a ground report.
  • Each team MUST supply their own goal umpire who will relay the scorecards to the Recorder after each game - located in Football Club Social Room at Moon Oval.
  • 1 point will be awarded to the winner of each half and 2 points to the overall winner of the game. Half a point awarded if teams have equal scores in a half. Where two teams finish equal on points, percentage will determine the division winner.
    • There are no boundary umpires. If the ball goes out of bounds by foot, whether on the full or not, a free kick will be awarded to the opposing team. A player CANNOT score directly from this free kick. If the ball goes out of bounds but NOT off a player’s foot,a ball up shall occur 5 metres inside the boundary at the point where the ball went out. Normal “out of bounds on the full” and “deliberately out of bounds” rules still apply.
    • Match Balls: Under 14 division use size 5 match balls. Match balls will be supplied by the league.
    • Order Off Rule:A player will be on the bench for 10 minutes if ordered off. The time will carry over into the next game if applicable.
    • A 50 meter penalty will be awarded for any inappropriate player or spectator behaviour.
    • Blood Rule: It is preferable that umpires don’t stop play and we ask clubs to replace players affected by the blood rule as soon as possible without interrupting the game.
    • Teams are to play 18 per side and no more than 6 interchange players.
    • Each team is allowed 2 water boys/girls. They are to deliver water after a goal has been scored or when the ball is at the other end of the ground, they are not to coach or deliver messages from the coach.
    • Runners are to be correctly attired wearing a high visible jacket and must deliver messages to the player from the coach as quickly as possible. They should not be on the ground for long periods of time and must not interfere with any players or officials.
    • Teams are to abide by the GCJFL Bylaws, otherwise refer to the AFL Victorian Country Rule Book.
    • Trophies and medallions for the winner of each division will be presented at the conclusion of the final game and team perpetual trophies will be presented at the presentation night on Friday 29th of August at the Wilf Cox in Kyabram starting at 7:30pm.
