2016 MAC City V Country Challenge

Adelaide Oval

27th March 2016

11.55am

Retired North Adelaide captain Greg Gallman is among a host of former SANFL players set to line-up in the 2016 MAC Cup on Sunday at Adelaide Oval.

Gallman, who hung up the boots at the end of last season with the Roosters, has been named by the City outfit, to be coached by Sean Jackson.

Former Sturt pair Tom Hurley and Tom Bartlett have also been listed with City together with ex-Roosters Toby Schulz and Will Dalwood.

Country will be guided by experienced mentor Barry Pilmore as it seeks to gain a 6-4 win-loss lead in the head-to-head battles to decide the MAC Cup.

Continuity could be a strong suit for Pilmore’s charges given familiar faces such as Xavier Watson, Simon Berkefeld, Nigel Osborn and Adam Merrett will again grace the home of SA football.

Last month, the South Australian Community Football League confirmed the highly-anticipated annual contest would take place before the AFL match between Port Adelaide and St Kilda on Sunday March 27.

Country stormed to a comfortable victory in last year’s clash, when City was represented by the Goodwood Saints as the previous year’s Div 1 SA Amateur League Premiership side.

This year, City will revert to a combined ‘’open age’’ line up consisting of the best players picked from the SAAFL.

The first bounce will be at Noon, with a live stream available here
