Over the long weekend, three VJBL Eagles teams competed in the invitiational National Junior Classic, where the best junior teams in Australia compete over 3 days of games.

Upon the commencement of the 2018 SEABL season, Diamond Valley stalwart Matt Reynolds was eager to prove he could compete at the level after trialling and dreaming of playing for a SEABL team since he was selected into his first State Team as an U/20 player.
The trip to Tasmania over the weekend saw our SEABL Men win a cliffhanger whilst the SEABL women’s winning streak came to an end. Our YL women did enough to secure a finals spot whilst the YL men finished their season with a win.
Friday night SEABL Basketball returned to the Diamond Valley Sports & Fitness Centre during the school holidays with a big crowd in attendance. There were exciting games on court with our women claiming a close win against Hobart whilst the men provided some great highlights in a narrow loss. For one club however, the night was even more special.
On Saturday the 30th of June Meg Crupi took to the court for our SEABL women, and registered her 100th Senior Championship Game for the Eagles. Meg, who plays in both our SEABL Women and BigV Youth League teams, began her Senior Championship career back in 2013.
The 2018 SEABL season has brought a level of basketball to Diamond Valley that hasn’t been seen in a long time. It was also an opportunity to attract some talent from the national stage. While there were many new faces at the start of 2018, there was also one that used to call Diamond Valley home. Lauren Scherf was excited to return to where it all began!
Our July holiday camps are winding down with only a few days to go. By the end of the two weeks, we will have hosted 6 camps over 9 days. More than 360 junior athletes have been through our doors to work on their skills, ranging from our U08 domestic players to U14 representative athletes and U16 NJBL players.
Our SEABL Women continued their winning streak over the weekend to 6 in a row whilst the men recorded a big win at Frankston, however our undermanned Youth League teams were gallant in their defeats to the Melbourne Tigers.

When you think of Refereeing at Diamond Valley, one name that stands out is Trish McKinnon. Trish has held many roles during her time at the Diamond Valley Basketball Referee Association which has included being our Referee’s Branch President and more recently, DVBA Referees Advisor. Trish has been a referee for more than 30 years.

On the 15th December 2011 a small advertisement went up on the Diamond Valley Basketball Association website asking for expressions of interest in a proposed USA basketball tour in December 2012. A meeting was organised by under 18 boy's Junior Championship coach Dave Jamieson in late January with around 100 people attending.
