Euston Under 15 and Robinvale Under 11 teams were included for the first time
At the AGM held on 5th December 1990, Robinvale Junior
Football Club successfully moved that "A player can be sent off
for the remainder (part or complete) of the match for any
offence. If the umpire thinks the offence deserves two weeks
suspension he must write the players name on the back of the
Sportsmanship card. If the umpire feels two weeks penalty is
not sufficient he may request the convening of a Tribunal."
At the Delegates meeting of 6th March 1991 Peter O'Toole moved
and Ian Roberts seconded that "no kicking off the ground in any competition".
The motion was carried. The main bone of contention seemed
rather to deal with the umpires' interpretation of the rule rather than the
spirit of the rule which is to get the lads picking up the ball thus
enhancing the balls controlled usage.
In a recent Mildura High v St Joseph's College year nine level game
the coaches decided prior to the game to dispense with the no
kicking off the ground rule. A High School lad finished up with a broken
bone in his hand and will be side lined for the next eight weeks.
