Upcoming Courses

Basketball WA,in conjunction with our affiliated Country Associations has just completed regional referee courses in the South West, Great Southern and Goldfields during October 2016. 

Building on the regional development from 2015, this year Basketball WA has run a number of Association Beginner Referee courses as well as Level 1 Referee courses and a Level 1 Referee Course in Australind has just been announced for January 2017 - please see information below and the registraion link.

The Association Beginner course is a  fantastic opportunity to get a formal qualification for your new referees and those who have refereed in the past seeking to develop their skills further prior to undertaking the Level 1 Referee Course.  

The Level 1 Course is an opportunity for referees who have previously undertaken their Association Beginner Course and held this qualification for a minimum of 12 months to be upskilled to the Level 1 theory level.  Referees who wish to gain their Level 1 accreditation will also need to complete the on-court practical component after the course prior to gaining accreditation (this can be done at Country Championships in 2017).

Referees who have officiated for more than 3 years who do not have any formal qualification may request an exemption from the 12 month waiting period in between the Association Beginner course and the Level 1 course in order to undertake both courses on the same weekend.  For referees in this position please contact Jessica Byrnes at jessica.byrnes@basketballwa.asn.au including in the email your experience as an official and any Basketball WA tournaments or workshops you may have undertaken in the past.

For individuals who have undertaken a Basketball WA Level 1 course in the past and wish to maintain your accreditation through a Refresher please contact Jessica Byrnes with more information about your initial course.
