Referee Course

Have you ever considered being a referee?
Do you know the steps to becoming a referee?
Do you want to help out your local club by learning getting qualified?

Step 1 is to sign up by creating your own Go1 account using the JotForm (https://form.jotform.com/220119209874860). Once your account has been created you enrol in the Level 4 Referee course and book into a practical session that best suits you. Ask your club if there is a current discount code!

Step 2 is the Online Learning component. You can complete this at your own pace at a time that suits you.

Step 3 is attending a Practical Session. Practical sessions include pre- and post-match responsibilities, whistling, signalling, and positioning. It takes approximately 3 hours.
Once you have completed your Online and Practical components, you are a qualified referee.

Step 4 is using what you have learnt on game day. There is a Gippsland Referees branch that you can join, or you may choose to just help out at your local club. Green Shirt (first year) referees are guided and coached to improve their skills and knowledge.
Please see https://www.footballvictoria.com.au/resources/referees/become-a-referee for further details about the process.

The level 4 training program is aimed at match officials in junior and youth matches and it consists of theory modules, practical sessions and mentoring as a referee and assistant referee at a community level.

The aim of this program is to educate new referees on the FIFA laws of the game and disciplines of refereeing, to uphold these laws, standards of the game and contribute to the enjoyment and fair play of football in Victoria.
