2013 finish: N/A. Goulburn Valley Suns, based in Shepparton, is the only new entity in the inaugural NPL and joins Ballarat Red Devils as the only regional clubs in Victoria’s top-tier division.

The gaffer: Suns adviser Melvyn Wilkes will oversee Round 1 against Oakleigh Cannons.
“We’ll be tight, hard-working, hard to break down and then try to hit them (Oakleigh) on the break. We know it’s going to be tough, but we want to get as many people through the gate as possible to support us” – Wilkes speaks to Shepparton News.
One to watch: Former A-League player Naum Sekulovski made 108 appearances for Perth Glory before moving on to Indonesian Premier Club side Persema Malang, where he played from 2011 to 2012 before succumbing to an ACL injury. The full-back played for Hume City in the Victorian Premier League last season and is one of a number of high-calibre recruits for the Suns.
