OHF APPOINTS OFFICIALS FOR JUNIOR NATIONS CUP

Experienced TD Helen Napier (pictured) leads the team of officials, all of whom are based in the Oceania region, for this Junior World Cup Qualifying event.

Currently based in Townsville, New Zealander Helen has FIH Tournaments; Junior World Cup, Commonwealth Games, and Champions Trophy all to her name as an official. Helen will bring all that experience to the mix as she heads up the Officials team for the week in the Gold Coast.

Experienced and developing Judges from Papua New Guinea and Australia will be by Helen and ably supported by New Zealand TO's Nicola Rankin and Martin Glossop, both of whom have established strong Technical officiating CV's nationally and have gained International experience with Test Series over the past two years.

Papua New Guinean Judge, Theresa Potuan, is appointed on her performance at the World League Round 1 held in December 2012 in Suva, Theresa has also been involved with the Oceania Pacific Cup tournament.

Oceania Officiating Committee are also pleased to be able to appoint as Umpire Manager, recently retired International Umpire - Julie Ashton-Lucy, veteran of 3 Olympics, 3 World Cups and numerous other World Level events after a decade at the top of International umpiring. Julie's experience will come in handy as she oversees both the men's and women's panels of umpires from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Wales.

Julie will be supported and mentored in her first foray into International Umpire Management by London Olympic Umpire Manager and Oceania Officiating Committee Chair, Dr. Craig Gribble.

Brisbane based Welsh umpire Annabelle Willox has been appointed as a Neutral umpire for this event, and will bring significant experience to the officials group on the womens side, along with New Zealander Karen Bennett, with both these umpires currently sitting on the FIH Promising Umpires list. Another Austalian umpire is added to the mix with freshly elevated to FIH International ranking, Bernadette Pangrazio.

On the men's side the umpires are equally as well represented with two internationally ranked umpires, New Zealander David Tomlinson, and Aussie Steve Rogers bringing strength to the panel of high potential umpires.

Development is always a key focus for OHF and as such national umpires with potential are included in both panels.

Fijian Umpire Epeli Tukuca has been appointed on his performance at the recent FIH World League Round 1. This will be the first time Epeli has umpired outside of Fiji.

All officials appointed to this event have been ratified by FIH.

Organisational Tournament administration based at the Gold Coast has been led by Sue Dalton and Sue has liaised with the significantly experienced FIH OHF Continental Devcelopment Manager and Competition Manager for this event Gill Gemming.

With such a high calibre of on field officials and behind the scene staff this event is sure to be a highlight in the Oceania Event Calendar.
