Valley Dragons win gold at the NSW Sports Safety Awards

Congratulations to the Valley Dragons on their outstanding win in the 2012 NSW Sports Safety Awards in the category of Outstanding Safe Sport Practices- Regional.

Mandy Schmidt, the clubs First Aid coordinator, has been instrumental in developing a database of pre existing medical conditions and specific care plans in looking after these conditions- including care plans for asthma, anaphylaxis and epilepsy. With over 400 players from ages 6-16, this is an excellent tool to make sure that everyone is cared for by a dedicated team of volunteers.

In addition, each team at the Valley Dragons has an accredited Level 1 First Aid Officer, and every water runner is also League Safe accredited. On top of this, there is always a Level 2 First Aid officer on hand to provide guidance and help to any team- Valley Dragons club teams or visiting teams!

The Valley Dragons club received a trophy and vouchers for Peter Wynn Sport. The NSW Sports Safety Awards are coordinated by the New South Wales government to recognise outstanding achievement in the research and prevention of sports related injuries and the adoption of safe sport practices. With organizations such as NSW Rugby League, Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club and Australian Rugby League Development taking out this award in the past, the Valley Dragons club are in excellent company.

Congratulations once again to Mandy and the team at the Valley Dragons.

Comment Guidelines: The SportingPulse Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand.
