Gosford Sailing Club skipper Kurt Hansen and crew Jim Colley competed in the 29er division of the 2015 Youth Sailing Championships. The regatta was held in Langkawi, Malaysia, from 28th December 2015 to 3rd January 2016. The team placed fourth overall and the competition was tough with Hansen stating "We've come away with fourth place, narrowly missing third and narrowly beating fifth, but we're pretty happy with the week and the work we put in and it's a good result in the end". Colley spoke of the challenging conditions stating, "it was a fairley tough regatta for us. We had some shockers and some good races. It probably wasn't ideal conditions for us but we managed to pull through and we're really stoked to come away with fourth". Hansen learned to sail on the beautiful and challenging Brisbane Waters and, like many other Gosford sailors, has succeeded at both State, National and International level, taking out the 29er World Championship in 2014.

The talented team revealed their plans for 2016 which includes sailing a 49er and the possibility of 470 sailing. Gosford Sailing Club is proud of these succesful youth sailors and will continue to support the team with their future sailing endeavours.
