PNG Coaches get Level Three Accreditation

Athletics Coaches John Baining from Rabaul and Kavieng based Maryanne Salameng are currently at the IAAF Regional Development Centre on the Gold Coast attending a Level Three sprints and hurdles coaching course. The course is introducing them to the specific planning , execution ,and review  aspects of coaching the sprint and hurdles events. Its is being presented by Sharon and Peter Hannan from Australia and  George McConarchy of New Zealand.  The two week course includes a number of  practical sessions along with classroom sessions and concludes with practical and written examinations on Friday this week.

Athletics PNG President Tony Green said that PNG had a very small  pool of coaches and with the increased level of activity around the country there was an urgent need to conduct more basic and Level One courses in PNG.  “A basic course was held in November in Kokopo and there will be more this year” he said , as well as a Level One later in the year.
