Job Purpose
To provide effective leadership and manage the day to day business of the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea to fulfill the vision, mission and strategic priorities outlined by the Executive Board in the Strategic Plan.
Description
The Executive Officer is responsible for implementing the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea’s Strategic Plan to grow the number of people playing basketball in PNG and increase the operational effectiveness of the Federation. S/he must provide effective leadership to subordinates and direct competition and program activity effectively, and must also ensure that the Executive Committee is provided with regular and timely updates on the implementation of the Strategic Plan.
The right candidate for the Executive Officer position is someone who is a proactive, competent, skilled and experienced administrator who is eligible to work in Port Moresby. He or she must have strong management and organisation skills, experience with the use of social media and a background in sales, sponsorship and marketing. Experience with leading teams at executive level is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
The Executive Officer will carry out all necessary measures commensurate with his role and functions, to meet performance targets set by the Executive Committee from time to time which performance targets are based on the 2016-2020 Strategic Plan as amended from time to time. In particular:
1) Provide effective leadership to his subordinates in fulfilment of the Employer’s vision, mission and Strategic Plan;
2) Ensure that the Executive Committee is provided with regularly and timely updates on implementation of the Strategic Plan;
3) Develop an annual BFPNG calendar of events and provide all required support to facilitate successful delivery of basketball competition and high performance programs;
4) Provide required support to facilitate delivery of community engagement and/or Basketball for Good Programs;
5) Liaise with Treasurer to ensure monthly financial records are up to date and properly kept;
6) Liaise with FIBA in Oceania, PNG Olympic Committee, PNG Sports Foundation, sponsors and other key stakeholders;
7) Develop and implement a fundraising strategy.
