BOMI Ralik Ratak Shootout eighth day results

On Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at the BOMI 12th Ralik Ratak Shootout Invitational Basketball Tournament, Jaluit women picked up their first and only win of the tournament, while in the men's bracket Team Majuro suffered its third loss.

In the first game Wednesday in the BOMI 12th Ralik Ratak Shootout tournament, Jaluit women picked up their first win of the tournament by defeating Likiep 69-56. It was Jaluit's fifth and final game, so they end the tourney at 1-4.

Leading scorers for Jaluit were Meleann Morris with 24 and Marylou Louis with 13 points. Frina Reiher led Likiep with 33 points.

In the second game in the men’s bracket, Wotje likely sealed a trip to the playoffs next week by defeating Jaluit 56-47. Jaluit is still seeking its first win in the tough Pool B. Wotje’s Maidede scored 14 points and Rudy Kalles added 11. For Jaluit, Carlwin Elbi had 10. Wotje is 1-2 and Jaluit is 0-3.

In a fast and physical game in the men’s bracket, Rongelap and Majuro played head to head for three quarters, with neither team getting more than a small lead. But in the final minutes of the fourth period, Rongelap pulled away from Majuro to win 60-49. Rongelap’s Dar Labin led all scorers with 20 points, while Raul Quint added 11. For Majuro, Daniel J scored 13 and Winton B had 8.

Rongelap improved its record to 2-1 and Majuro fell to 0-3.
