Fiji Hockey teams leave for India

Eight weeks after the end of the FIH Hockey World League Round 1 in Suva on the 15th December 2012, our National teams are about to leave on a historic trip to India.

Team Fiji left Suva by bus early on Thursday morning for Nadi to begin a journey that seemed highly unlikely not too long ago.

At 8.45am yesterday morning, our National teams boarded the Air Pacific flight for Hongkong and after a 5 hour layover, boarded the Cathay Pacific for the flight to New Delhi arriving just before midnight (New Delhi time). We're yet to hear from Team Fiji, but we hope they had an uneventful trip to India and after a day of relaxation ready to begin their final preparations for the FIH Hockey World League Round 2.

The team had a budget of over $250,000 as their initial target and whilst Fiji Hockey didn't quite reach that target, our teams are outfitted, the airfares paid, the accommodation deposits paid and the team is on the way.

We've had incredible support from the team, their families and friends, the Government, the corporate sector, the Fiji public and with the incredible support of the media kept us focussed on the task ahead.

We have a few more days to sell 500 Club Raffle tickets until the draw on Wednesday 20th February - and we look forward to the continuing support of the public.

We made it!

Good luck Team Fiji - play your hearts out and make Fiji proud.
