BSP SC Nationals Wrap

42 National SC Championships records were set at the 2014 BSP Short Course Age Group Nationals which ended in Suva on Saturday.

Apart from the national records, a total of 25 National Swimming records were also recorded during the three-day event at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre in Laucala.

The Fiji Swimming team to the 2014 Junior Pan Pacific Games has arrived in Maui.

Consisting of 16 swimmers - 10 Female and 6 Male swimmers - the team is made up of swimmers from 4 clubs - Barracudas, Race Club, Dolphins and Makos.more

The psych sheet has been released for the 2014 Junior Pan Pacific Championships, which kick off next Wednesday and conclude August 31 at the Kihei Aquatic Center in Maui.

Fiji will be sending a large group of young swimmers to the meet as a build up for future major competitions.more

Fiji Swimmers Kinver Nicholls and Tevita Takayawa are competing in the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast. So far they have registered some good times, swimming alongside some of the world's greatest swimmers.more

Meli Malani set a new National Open Mens' record in the 50m Breaststroke at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games. He also swam a PB in the 50m Freestyle and narrowly missed his PB in the 50m Butterfly.

Dolphin Swimming Club of Suva were crowned the overall winners of the 2014 LC Open and Age Group Nationals held over the weekend at the Damodar City National Aquatic Centre.

Coming in 2nd was Nadi Barracudas Swimming Club and in 3rd place was Finis Race Club of Suva.

2017 World Championships

An International Swimming Federation (FINA) delegation, led by its Executive Director Cornel Marculescu, was in Guadalajara (Mexico) recently to meet the local authorities and organisers of the 2017 FINA World Championships. The 17th edition of FINA’s major event will take place from 15 to 30 July 2017, and will be immediately followed by the FINA World Masters Championships.more

Commonwealth Games Team

The final team list for Glasgow has been announced following approval from FASANOC’s Board of Management meeting last night. This follows a Selection Justification Committee meeting on the 1st of June and approval by FASANOC's Executive Board. 6 swimmers and 2 officials will be travelling to the Games.more

Oceanias Day 1 Highlights

William Clark swam the race of his life to take out the Oceania Championships 100m Backstroke Bronze medal tonight at the Westwave Aquatic Centre in Auckland. William also set a new Fiji Open Record for the event, breaking Carl Probert's 1999 record.more

2014 Oceania Championships Team

24 swimmers will represent Fiji at the Oceania Swimming Championships in Auckland later this month. This is the largest team that Fiji Swimming has sent to the Oceania Championships, and it comprises a mixture of youth and experience, as we prepare for the 2015 Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.

Long Course Grand Prix 3

Fine weather greeted over 150 swimmers at the National Aquatic Centre yesterday for the final meet in the 2014 LC Grand Prix Series.

Congratulations to Temafa Yalimaiwai and Rosemarie Rova for setting new records.

Cheyenne and William

Cheyenne Rova and William Clark made their college season debut this year at Iowa lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, IA. Both Cheyenne and William have been key members of the Lakes Swimming and Diving teams.

Long Course Grand Prix 1

Bad weather forced the cancellation of the afternoon session of the first of Fiji Swimming's LC Grand Prix events yesterday.

However the morning session saw some great racing, and 2 more records set by Temafa Yalimaiwai of the Tritons Club.more

Yalimaiwai breaks 17-year record

Young Temafa Yalimaiwai (12) of the Tritons Swimming Club broke Patrick Murphy’s 17-year old 200m freestyle record set in 1997, at the NSW Swimming State Championships held in Sydney two weeks ago.

International swimmer, Patrick Murphy moved to Australia from Fiji and represented Australia at international level competitions including the World Champs, Commonwealth and Olympic Games.more
