THE wet weather didn't dampen Highlanders enthusiasm yesterday as they flocked to Mittagong Sportsground yesterday to mingle with their heroes.

The West Tigers first grade squad came down to visit the Highlands and held a skills clinic at Mittagong yesterday afternoon.

A few hundred children took part in the clinic which was hosted by the players as they helped the children hone their rugby league skills.

New Tiger Braith Anasta said it was great to see so many supporters turn up.

"A lot of these kids and families don't get to see NRL players so for us to come here and try and make a difference in their lives whether it be educational or just to give them inspiration to play sport, then we've achieved our goal and it makes you feel good not only as a player but as a person," he said.

Senior Tigers player Lote Tiquiri said he was glad to be able to give back to the fans.

"It's pretty good this year. I didn't realise there were so many West Tiger fans down here. I guess it's good to get out in the community and share a bit of rugby league and West Tiger love."

"We're not into the season yet but it's good to see the appetite for rugby league is there."

Today the players will split into groups and visit schools in the area to promote the message of anti-bullying.
