ATTENTION! Sarge is back

By JOHN FITZGERALD

After an absence of three years Glenn Sargent was appointed coach of Kandos Waratahs for the 2013 season.

Sargent retired from active duties with the club following the record-breaking 50-nil grand final win by his side in 2009 against Lithgow Bears, but always made himself available for mentoring when needed.

His last coaching stint resulted in an unbeaten premiership season and was the culmination of five years in the top role, every year taking the Waratahs to a semi-final.

Paul Perini replaced Sargent in 2010, with Ross Tito taking charge in 2011 before Glenn Osgood led the side this year.

These three maintained the unbroken run of finals appearances begun by Sargent in 2005.

He is keen to steer the Waratahs through 2013 and into the 2014 season and continue the run of successes he started seven years ago

The 2014 season will coincide with the Kandos township’s centenary and the club would like to boast 10 successive years of finals appearances to help celebrate the centenary.

Craig Parsons was elected president for the second year, Julie Sargent once again secretary/treasurer, with Stacy Vidler the successful candidate for the ground manager’s position, more than capably filled this year by Jo Ferguson.
