Northland U21 Coaches Named

Hockey Northland is proud to announce the appointment of Richard Storey and Vicki Gribble as Head Coaches of the 2013 Northland U21 Women and U21 Men.
 
U21 Women: Richard Storey
 
Richard has played hockey for the past 40 years.  Playing highlights: ACT State age group representative (Aust) QLD Schoolboys’ team,  100+ Senior club games in Brisbane league.  Richard relocated to Northland and has played club hockey for Springfield since 2004, 3 reserve grade premierships and 1 Premier grade premiership and was also the player coach WBHS 1st XI that won the reserve grade final in 2011. Richard has and continues to play Masters Hockey for Northland 

Richard has coached or assisted many Northland representative and club teams including the 2007 Northland NHL Men, Northland Under 16 Boys, WBHS 1st XI   Assistant Coach Northland Womens NHL 2010, Trainer 2011 , 2012 Assistant Coach WGHS 1st XI & is the current coach for the Ruatangata D grade team.  
 
His philosophy on Hockey, first and foremost it must be fun and enjoyable to play and compete.  Treat your team mates and opposition with respect at all times. 


On Coaching: I expect each player to take personal responsibility for their preparation, fitness and commitment.  Practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect. 

U21 Men: Vicki Gribble

 

Vicki has been reappointed Head Coach of the 2013 Northland U21 Men after coaching the 2012 team that competed in last years tournament. 

Vicki is a ledgend of Northland Hockey with over 220 caps to her name to go with an endless supply of Head Coaching positions (20+ years) including, Hikurangi Premier Women and the Northland Women. Vicki has also been the Assitant Coach & Manger for the Northland NHL Men for the past 3 seasons.
