The NAB AFL U16 National Championships is a week-long carnival that pits the best juniors from across the country against each other during the mid-year school holiday break.
Like the U18 Championships, the U16’s are split into two Divisions, with a Vic Metro and Vic Country team playing against South Australia and Western Australia in Division 1.
Players for the Vic Metro and Vic Country U16 teams are selected from the various TAC Cup regions after the U16 Metro and Country carnivals that are held across March and April.
A number of Victorian participants in the U16 Championships go on to gain exposure to the TAC Cup competition through the 23rd man program once the championships are completed.
