Port Stephens benefit from grant

In late 2012, Port Stephens Junior AFL Club was successful in obtaining a $1200 grant from the Telstra Kids Fund.

This grant was used to buy a laptop to help with player registrations and the administration of our club.

Club spokesman, Chris Maidorn takes up the story.

“Club Vice President Jodie Bell’s mum Gai, who works for Telstra, made us aware of the grant.

Shortly after submitting the application, we were notified that our application had been successful.

The laptop was purchased in January after the funds were received.

We then spent some time setting up the laptop in preparation for the club’s registration days in February.

So far this year we have held one registration day and accepted additional registrations when two Sydney Swans’ players visited our club for a training session.

The laptop has proven to be a real time saver and I am sure the parents were happy that they did not have to fill out the registration forms manually.

The laptop will also be invaluable when it comes to completing our committee minutes and other administrative tasks. It will also enable us to provide regular score updates on the internet during matches.

We would like to thank the Telstra Kids Fund for supporting our club; and Jodie and Gai for submitting the successful application.”
