OWF Secretary General first to visit Tonga for 2019 Pacific Games

According to the Tonga National Olympic Committee (NOC) Secretary General, Takitoa Taumoepeau, Paul’s visit is to conduct workshops for Tongan lifters as well as officials. Further, Paul, as a Member of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) also handed over weightlifting equipments and gear donated by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), the world governing body for the sport. The said equipment and gear was handed over to the President of TASANOC, Lord Tupou and Michael Bloomfield, President of the Tonga Weightlifting Federation.

 Takitoa also added that in addition to the weights, the IWF also donated weightlifting shoes and suits which lifters can wear while they train and compete. The equipments and gear donated, is estimated to be worth more that USD5, 000, will be handed to the Tonga Weightlifting Federation (TWF) so that they can start training for regional events such as Pacific Mini Games in Wallis & Futuna next year and major events such as the Commonwealth, Olympic Youth Games in 2014 and of course the 2019 Pacific Games in Tonga.

 Lord Tupou in his reply to Mr Coffa thanked him on behalf of the TASANOC as well as the TWF. He also added that they will be looking forward to seeing results from Tongan lifters in years to come with these good equipments.
