30 x 5 – Physical Activity and Non Communicable Disease (NCD) package

The 30 x 5 package is an innovative new pilot physical activity and non communicable disease (NCD’s) education program which has been developed by Shefa Provincial Government Councils Youth & Sports team.

 

Through train the trainer workshops, sport development officers from sporting federations have been taught how to deliver the basic health awareness designed to be delivered at outreach programs, tournaments, festivals etc.

 

Health topics covered include important information regarding;

 

-          Physical activity                                             - Cancer

-          High blood pressure                                     - Obesity and overweight

-          Diabetes (type II)                                          - Alcohol, kava, marijuana use

-          Healthy foods

 

The intended outcomes of this program are;

 

—  Healthier communities who make educated decisions about their health

—  Capacity building of sports development officers and others involved in physical activity

—  Sustainable awareness program and increase in awareness being delivered throughout Vanuatu

—  Increase in likelihood of successful funding applications for sporting federations to continue this program and others.

 

This program is designed to be cost effective and sustainable therefore sporting federations are able to download and print the resources from this page as and when required.
