Basketball Hawkes Bay (BBHB)

BBHB was created in 2005 with an objective of coordinating basketball activities in the Hawkes Bay region including Napier, Hastings, Wairoa and central Hawkes Bay.

BBHB is a registered charity status. Donations to BBHB are eligible to a third refund of the donation claimable in  annual tax returns with the IRD.

The mission of Basketball Hawke’s Bay is to promote and provide basketball programs and services for all levels and ages of participants that stimulate their health, development, and enjoyment in a safe environment and develop fitness, wellness, social interaction, team work, fair play, representative and leadership opportunities.

During the next decade, Basketball Hawke’s Bay will be recognised as a leader in the delivery of recreational and competitive amateur basketball programs and services within New Zealand.  We will deliver comprehensive programmes providing the highest quality participation experience that supports participant learning, life-long participation and physical wellness.   Our programs will be conducted in a positive environment that fosters improved self-confidence, self-esteem and healthy lifestyles allowing people of all ages to participate, enjoy and excel at all levels.

  • Leadership Strategy:  To establish BBHB as a capable, credible regional sports organisation that delivers on its mission. 
  • Game Development Strategy:  To improve the capability and capacity of the delivery structure within BBHB.
  • Player Development StrategyTo develop a coordinated programme which provides a pathway for players and ensure success at regional and national level?
  • Coaching StrategyTo build the capability and capacity of coaching within Basketball Hawkes Bay and to have trained coaches available for all teams, at all levels.
  • Officials StrategyTo build the quality and quantity of Basketball officials within Hawkes Bay.
  • Funding Strategy:  To establish BBHB as a viable organisation, with secure funding streams to enable full strategic plan implementation.
