Cougars Hail Kale!
The McKinnon Division One Men Cougars have been lucky enough to secure the services of Canadian big man Kale Harrison for the 2013 season. Kale is a 6’8’’ shooting guard who has had a stellar career at Wilford Laurier University where he holds the record for all-time leading scorer and rebounder. Kale’s many accolades continue with 2011 Canadian University League All Canadian and four time Ontario University Athletics All Star. Furthermore, Kale has represented his native Canada in the World University Games, where he received a Silver medal.
Kale is working and travelling in Australia this year and through his friendship with Assistant Coach Luke Sunderland, contacted McKinnon for a possible playing spot. Immediately, Kale was identified as an ideal fit for the Cougar 2013 season. And the rest they say, is history!
Beginning his basketball career at 7, Kale is also passionate about junior ball and has fortunately offered up his time and skills to coach the McKinnon U14-4 Boys VJBL Representative team. Kale is loving coaching the team, saying that although they are “not the biggest team in the world, they make up for it in speed and hard work”.
D1M head coach, Matt Brooks, is excited about what Kale will bring to the Cougars game this season. “Kale will give us much needed height and length in our perimeter positions, not to mention his long range shooting ability. Kale is not only a quality player but also, just as importantly, a quality person. Kale has impressed many in his short time here and all the D1M look forward to playing with him this year.”
Get to know Kale a little bit better by checking out the below interview. Make sure you all give him a warm Cougar welcome at the Cougar Cup this Saturday at The Den.
