Talent shines in Girls Rugby League Program
A group of talented young Rugby League players are participating in a fantastic opportunity this term. The program, for female Rugby League players at Matraville Sports High School, has more than 20 students involved starting at age 14 upwards.
The program includes both theory and practical activities each week, with the girls utilising the new NRL Dream Believe Achieve resource and focusing on NRL values during their lessons.
Pamela Goodridge, trainer with the Australian Womens Rugby League team, is running the program each week and is thrilled with the motivation and skill level the players have displayed so far. "The girls also have a game this Friday against Casula HS and are pretty pumped for that!"
The girls were also treated to a visit recently from Jillaroos player and NRL Game Development Officer, Samanatha Bremner who presented parts of the Dream Believe Achieve program to the girls and talked to them about her Rugby League path which has led to her making lifelong friends and travelling to many places in Australia and overseas to play the game she loves.
Part of the program will also result in the girls participating in referees and coaching courses. The girls are also looking to run an NRL Backyard League program with a local Primary School at the end of the term.
Its a great kick off to the year for these talented players!
