AASC aims to engage traditionally non-active primary school aged children by providing free, structured physical activity programs in the after-school timeslot at over 3,200 schools across Australia. The AASC progam is an Australian Government initiative, and the ASC has carriage of the program on behalf of the Australian Government (AASC, 2009).

The advantages for Eltham Wildcats conducting Active After School Communities include:

  • The opportunity to increase awareness of our organisation and attract members
  • The opportunity to build links with local primary schools and the community
  • Nationally recognised training and accreditation through the ASC's free Community Coach Training Program (CCTP)
  • Professional development for our coaches through placements in local schools
  • Options for involvement as paid or volunteer deliverers.
