We are excited to announce our Big V Championship Women's team for season 2013.

As has been the case for a number of years, the Club is focusing on encouraging our best juniors to step up and join our Big V program as soon as they are ready. We also always welcome external recruits who are keen to join Bulleen and be a part of our future plans for our Big V program.

After taking over Head Coaching duties part way through last season, Dee Butler returns to coach the team and will be looking to build on the work done in 2012 when the team just missed out on a finals berth.

The core of the team returning from last season includes Ella Burton, Amy Faulkner, Brooke Howells, Tenille Nash, Lauren Pearce and Emily Simons. Young gun Brodie Theodore saw limited court time last season due to injury, but is ready to return to the court and showcase her fabulous skills.

Continuing our theme of nurturing home grown talent, former Under 18s junior and 2012/13 WNBL debutant Funda Nakkasoglu joins the team and will add spark to the point and shooting guard positions. And after a break out season with our Youth League team last year, 2012 MVP Tessa Ramsay will also step up to the Championship level to add strength to the front court rotations.

And finally, the Boomers would like to welcome two new recruits to our Club.

Emma Glynn crosses the Yarra River to join the Boomers after many years at the Eltham Wildcats. Emma will play a swing role and add pace and versatility around the court after a number of strong years in the State Youth competition.

And last but not least, Selena Wawrzyniak has moved to Melbourne from Sydney where she has played for a number of years with the Hills Hornets in the NSW Waratah League. Selena will also bolster the front court and we welcome her to the Club and to Big V basketball.

Coach Dee Butler had the following to say on the upcoming season "I am really excited about this group having a stella season this year. With the addition of a few players and the experience gained from last season with the returning group, I think we have the talent to attack finals basketball".

The Boomers Championship Women kick off their 2013 season on Sunday 17th March in a first up away game against Hume City. The girls first home game is on Sunday 24th March against the Sherbrooke Suns.

Upcoming Big V home games will always be listed in the Boomers Notices box on the right hand side of our home page. Home games for all our Big V teams are at the Templestowe Leisure Centre (TLC), so get on out for the 2013 season and support our Big V Boomers.
