Boys

Below you will find important information regarding the options available for boys within the Northside Wizards competition.
Registration for 2019 will be available by mid-December.

The Seasons
The Junior Competition year is divided into three seasons.
Term one of the school year is Grading Season. This is the time of the competition when the clubs will move players between teams to ensure they are balanced and competitive.
The teams may also be moved between divisions to ensure they participate in a balanced competition.
Terms two & three are the Championship season, where all teams will compete towards a final series and potential division champions.
Term four is the Summer season, where competition is a bit more relaxed. No Finals, no trophies, just a chance to keep active as we head into the summer holiday break.

Club Competitions - J
unior Male players
Junior boys teams are organised by affiliated clubs.  Players are required to register with a club (unless they are part of a Wizards partner school basketball program). Training is a 1-hour session mid-week in the club's venue. Scroll down for the contact details of affiliated clubs.

Games are played as follows:
Saturday competitions
Under 11 boys and Under 13 boys fixtures are played on Saturday mornings at The Sports Centre, Boondall (Brisbane Entertainment Complex). Game times range from 8.00am to 2.00pm.  Occasionally games are played at an alternate venue, usually the South Pine Sports Complex at Brendale.  This only occurs if The Sports Centre is unavailable, and is advised early in the season.  See below for season dates.

Sunday competitions
Under 15, Under 17, Under 19 & Under 21 boys competitions are played on Sunday afternoons/evenings at The Sports Centre, Boondall. Game times commence around 1.00pm up until 8.00pm. Occasionally games are played at an alternate venue, usually the South Pine Sports Complex at Brendale and/or the Morayfield Leisure Centre.  This only occurs if Boondall is unavailable, and is advised early in the season.  See below for season dates.

All games are refereed by accredited officials or supervised trainees.  Players are encouraged to train as referees, and are paid according to their level for each game.

New players in these age groups should check the website for their preferred club to obtain details of the January 2019 trial day.  Players that want to register after the official trial day should contact the club registrar prior to registering as there is no guarantee of a position on a team. The club registrar will provide advice regarding team availability, training requirements, uniform requirements, registration process and start date.

All club players proposing to play in 2019 must be registered with an affiliated club on or before trial day, as team lists will be organised and submitted electronically on Friday 25th January 2019. This will allow sufficient time for the competition draws to be completed ahead of the first games on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd February. If you have not registered with an affiliated club on or before sign on day, there is no guarantee that your preferred club will be able to place you in a team.

Unregistered players are not covered by player insurance if they are injured, and accordingly they WILL NOT be allowed to play under any circumstances.  This will be strictly enforced from Week 1.
