Sofie Casson - Successful at State Cup

It was bitter sweet for Sofie last year after her team won the same carnival last year, however Sofie had to undergo a knee reconstruction just prior to the carnival. Happily she has been able to return to the field in recent months, and after winning the Regional Hornets Carnival, the team was ready for another big effort at Port.

They won their pool comfortably, however after a win over Manly 2 in the quarters, they had to take on Manly 1 in the semi's. Wallsend went ahaead early but found themselves one down with minutes to go. Sofie managed to score to take the game to a nail biting 'drop off' which Wallsend won, when the teams were down to 4 players.

The final was against Tamworth Thunder who the team had played and beaten in the Country Championships final at Dubbo, earlier in the year. The game was close but Wallsend maintiained their composure throughout with Sofie managing to score two tries in a final score line of 4:1.

Well done Sofie.
