Strategic Plan
The Hamilton Amateur Basketball Association Committee attended a workshop in late 2009 facilitated by Karen Pearce, Manager Strategic Operations, Basketball Victoria and Trevor Newcombe, Association Development Officer, Basketball Victoria. The key aim of the workshop was to identify and establish a strategic framework in line with Basketball Victoria’s Strategic Plan 2009 – 2012 that will specifically assist the growth of basketball within the city of Hamilton and its surrounding areas, as well as assist with the key priorities and objectives of Basketball Victoria’s Strategic Plan to maximise growth across all participatory areas in Victoria.
Consultation with the Committee at the workshop identified opportunities and challenges for developing basketball in Hamilton.
The Hamilton Amateur Basketball Association Strategic Plan (2009 – 2012) outlines the direction the Association will take to grow the sport of basketball within the community. The achievement of all the Strategic Priorities within this timeline, will effectively contribute to the vision Basketball Victoria outlines in their Strategic Plan (2009 – 2012) which states:
“Through collaboration and cooperation we will build and strengthen capacity to ensure basketball is the sport of first choice.”
Through participating in a consultative workshop with Basketball Victoria, the Hamilton Amateur Basketball Association identified Strategic Priorities covering all aspects of the game, from the grass-roots to the elite, including a large amount of supporting mechanisms in between, that will assist the growth and sustainability of basketball in Hamilton and the surrounding districts. These have now formed the basis for establishing a number of priority areas for the Hamilton Amateur Basketball Association to focus on over the next three years. This begins with the Vision of Hamilton Amateur Basketball Association:
The Hamilton Amateur Basketball Association will continue to build on its proud 50 year history of strengthening and facilitating basketball in our region.
With a 50 plus year history of basketball within the city, the Hamilton Amateur Basketball Association Committee takes pride in continuing to support and grow the vision of their forefathers.
