Coaching courses are run via Toowoomba Basketball inconjunction with our clubs and representative program.

There are a number of courses coaches can take part in to further their own knowledge and understanding about the sport of basketball. These courses are listed below with a brief description:

 

Beginning Coaching General Principles online course:

The Beginning Coaching General Principles online course has been developed to assist coaches to learn the basic skills of coaching, particularly those coaches working with children. The course is currently free of charge to Australian coaches.

The course contains five modules, covering a range of general coaching topics including; the role and responsibilities expected of a coach, planning, safety, working with parents, communication, group management and inclusive coaching practices. It takes approximately six hours to complete, and there is assessment included at the end of each module.

This course is required before undertaking the level 1 course delivered by Toowoomba Basketball.

 

Level One Coaching Course:

This course is the first step for coaches to gain formal accreditation in the sport of basketball. The information contained within this course is very broad and touches upon all the major elements involved within coaching a team at club and association levels of competition.

 

Level Two Coaching Course: This course gives greater detail and knowledge about the elements involved in coaching a basketball team at elite levels such as state representative and athlete development. The course focuses on a coach's personal development and how to continue to gain knowledge about the sport of basketball.

 

Level Three Coaching Course: This course is currently under review and waiting sanctioning by the Australian Sports Commission. The course focuses on the elite level skills needed to coach within the professional ranks of coaches within Australia.
