Buccs snare premiership-winning Ballantyne
Six-time SBL All-star Shamus Ballantyne has been lured by his old mate Mark Heron to play for the Sun City Plumbing Buccaneers in 2013.
Ballantyne, a premiership teammate with Heron’s at the Goldfield Giants in 2007 and 2008, joins the Geraldton camp after a five-year stint with the Willetton Tigers.
The six-time SBL All-star, who fought back from cancer to return to the court in 2011, said the move was an easy sell from Heron, who is also a new acquisition for the Buccs.
“Mark has obviously just moved to town and he spoke to me about coming and playing,” he said. “We started as juniors all the way through and even played at Willetton together.
