Cougars Sign Conference Player of The Year

The Cockburn Basketball Association is pleased to announce Najee Lane from the University of Clark Atlanta as an import for season 2015.

The 6’4 Lane who is an extremely tough defender also has a knack for finding multiple ways to score, had a great collegiate career at Division II Clark Atlanta University where he held the title SAIC Conference Player of the Year. Lane leads in the Top 5 in Career Points in Clark Atlanta University’s history.

Lane who has enjoyed plenty of success during his colligate Career in Atlanta is excited to be bringing his skills to Western Australia this season “I’m really happy to be here at Cockburn, it is a city full of opportunity and great weather” Lane said “I just want to come in and push my teammates to make them better, Make us better, you have competition every day because you set high standards for yourself and each other, you have to go out and live up to that every day”.

Cougars Head Coach Matt Parsons was pleased to have the 26 year olds skills at the club this season “Najee has been outstanding since he arrived in Perth, his leadership qualities and the self drive that he has to improve his game everyday has been very important in developing the work ethic of the younger impressionable players that we have here at Cockburn”. Parsons commented that “Anytime you bring in a player that was a Conference Player of the Year you know that you’re bringing in a player that can play both sides of the ball, set the standard at training and has the characteristics to fit in with our Clubs Values”. Although Najee has taken a short break from basketball to spend time with his young family, his work ethic and drive to get back to game readiness has been something that has impressed all.

With Lane now on board and teaming up with star forward Gavin Field, Guard Steven Van Lit, Cockburn Junior Julian Peseva and the return from retirement of club stalwarts Sheldon McIntyre and Grant Davey there is a great sense of Enthusiasm at the Den for season 2015.
