CBL Moe v Sale/Maffra

The last game before Christmas for Moe saw the women play Maffra and the men play Sale. Both teams had wins to go into the break well placed for the rest of the season.

The Moe women came out looking for revenge after their 1 point loss earlier to Maffra. Moe dominated the game from the start being 15 up at the quarter and 29 at the half. Moe only had 7 players available and it was thought that Maffra would come back hard in the third, however Moe extended their lead to 40. The final quarter petered out for a 89-63 win for Moe. In a great team effort, Carly had 25 and Steph had 23. Moe goes to the break in 2nd spot and looking forward to finals.

Sale came to town with only 6 players, however Moe had played poorly in Bairnsdale the night before. The first half felt like Moe was clearly on top, however the scoreboard didn't reflect that. Seb Fontaine hit 2 threes late in the second quarter to give Moe a 3 point lead at the half. Moe came out in the third determined to put the game away and they did taking a 18 point lead into 3/4 time. Moe welcomed back Steve Bonacci and Dev Heusman, and with the bigs dominating the result was settled. Moe played the youngsters for the last quarter and in another top display had 4 players in double figures for a 86-74 win. Moe is placed 4th currently and is in the box seat to return to finals. However they have a very tough draw after Christmas and the ball is in their court.
