Van Kailis (Chairman)

I have been involved in Basketball for over twenty years as a player, coach, Development Officer and administrator.

I have been with Wanneroo since the amalgamation of the Subiaco Basketball Club in 1986. I am the Development Officer and Stadium Manager for the Wanneroo Basketball Association.

I played top level Basketball with the Subiaco Basketball Club. Since joining Wanneroo, I have coached numerous junior and seniors teams both at Domestic and representative level as well as State level as Head Coach and Assistant Coach for both U/16âs and U/18âs Girls.

I have coached at SBL Level and was the winning Coach of the year for WSBL in 1990 as well as winning the Championship.

Currently I hold Level 2 coaching accreditation.

I have been a member of the WABL Commission for approximately ten years and in the past three years as Chairperson of the WABL Commission.

I joined the Commission to help out with my experience to try to improve and make the WABL Competition an elite and better competition for our juniors and also to have more kids playing the game.

I would like to see our WABL Competition grow and give our kids more opportunities to play the game at this elite level and to invite more clubs and Associations to be part of our junior competition.

I have also, during the past 14 years (bi annually) taken U18 age group, both boys and girls to the USA.

Basketball has been (with the support of family) very good to me and has been a big part of my life, Away from Basketball I like to relax and socialize with friends, watch movies/sport and sleep.
