Bens boost Bright
QUALITY ACQUISITION: After 38 senior matches with Wangaratta, Ben Henwood shapes as a
potential star for Bright this year.

BRIGHT’S hopes of breaking Glenrowan’s stranglehold on the Ovens and King premiership cup have received a huge boost, with key signings made at Pioneer Park.

Reigning Baker Medallist and back to back Bright best and fairest Ben Bond will once again be representing the Mountain Men in 2016, and he will be joined by a valuable Ovens and Murray recruit in Ben Henwood.

Bright coach Regan Alexander said Bond, who is set to move to Melbourne to work, was an example of the desire for success among the playing group.

“It just goes to show that we are on the right track – everyone wants to stick around and be a part of it,” Alexander said.

“Employment had to come first with Ben, but once he knew he was going to have his weekends free to travel back he was very keen to return.

“We’re absolutely rapt – we’ve known about his capabilities all along, but now he has that recognition from the rest of the league as well.

“He is an extremely valuable player for us.”

Henwood comes to the club after 107 O&M games at senior, reserves and thirds level at Wangaratta over the past six seasons.
