LAKERS JUNIOR BASKETBALLERS BEST IN SA COUNTRY

Mount Gambier’s junior basketballers were awarded the prestigious SA Country Basketball John Spooner Trophy for 2015 after the completion of the Under 12’s and 16’s SA Country Junior Basketball Championships two weekends ago.

This award goes to the most successful Association competing in Division 1 of the 8 age groups, Under 12, 14, 16 and 18 Boys and Girls.more

SUMMER BASKETBALL MVP AWARDS

Highlights of the 2014/15 Summer South East Basketball League Most Valuable Players’ Count last Wednesday night were the one vote wins in both the Men’s and Women’s voting.

Panthers-Wizards on court leader, Chris Mason was the eventual winner in the Men’s summer competition, while State Under 18 player Brenna McKay won this prestigious women’s individual award on the last voting slip opened.more

NEW FACE IN SUMMER SECBL BASKETBALL TITLES

Roos’ Women are the 2014/15 Premiers on the back of a gritty, “never beaten” performance against pre-match favourite Millicent last Wednesday night. Roos halted the Cougars/ Panthers’ dominance of the senior Women’s scene by claiming their first ever premiership in the South East Coast Basketball League and their first since the 2000/01 season.more

FOUR DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW FOR LAKERS UNDER 18 BASKETBALLERS

The Mount Gambier Lakers Under 18 Men’s Basketball team made it four Division 1 titles in a row by winning the 2015 Championship in Adelaide over the weekend of March 7th, 8th and 9th.more

An air of promise and expectation surrounded the Lakers’ Women as they prepared for the 2014/15 CBL season last October. Team-mates and Coach, Trevor Semmens, were thrilled that former WNBL player Melissa Russell had decided to suit up, thus giving the team depth in experience, leadership and talent in quest for the title.more
