Hawks Development Squads
Hawks 2014 Under 11/12 Development Squad for Boys & Girls
With the introduction of Associations being required to enter 2 x U12 teams in WABL for 2014, our development squads and the Carnivals, will now be more aligned to U 11 players (2004) year of birth.
Development squad training is a program managed by Hawks senior coaches along with the assistance of our Hawks SBL and older WABLPlayers. The program is designed to enhance the skills of existing young basketballers.
Weekly training sessions are held on Tuesdays at the WA Basketball Centre from 5:15 to 6:15, commencing 29TH APRIL 2014 and throughout Term 2 and Term 3.
Players will be selected to compete in three Sunday carnivals during year, to be held at the WA Basketball Centre on 15th June, 27th July and 24th August 2014.
The cost per term is $80 There will be additional costs for participation at the carnivals.
Players are required to wear a Hawks reversible singlet to training sessions; these can be ordered after the first training session. Cost for a reversible is $25.00 and these are available from the Hoop2Hoop online store. Details for ordering can be found on Perry Lakes Hawks website. Hawks shorts may be purchased for $35.00 and other merchandise items are also available.
Squads will comprise a maximum of 25 players. Participation is by invitation only. Hawks WABL coaches will invite players who have shown ability in earlier Hawks WABL tryouts and we also invite nominations from coaches from the Hawks junior domestic competition. Junior associations and/or Junior coaches who would like to nominate a participant to tryout should advise the player to attend on Week 1 (April 29th). There will be 2 weeks of tryouts before the group is reduced to the final 25 players.
Players must already have a reasonable knowledge of basketball and be motivated to improve their skills towards a future WA Basketball League opportunity. Players should be turning 10 by 31st December, 2014 (birth year 2004), however there may be some positions for players with a 2003 birth year.
