Netball Wellington Centre Seeking Lead Coaches for 2015 U15, U17, U19 and LFNC Rep Teams 

 

Netball Wellington Centre invite interested lead coaches to take up the opportunity to get involved with coaching our 2015 representative teams. We are currently seeking keen applicants for the positions of Lead Coach. We encourage you to please have a look over the job descriptions that interest you and register your interest by completing a form, briefly outline your experience and return your application to the Netball Wellington Centre via email to gm@netballwellington.co.nz or fax (04) 387 7461. 

Positions within the Representative Team Management are a pathway opportunity for all coaches and managers wishing to further their coaching careers and for those wishing to give back to the netball community at Centre level.

Netball Wellington Centre welcome those who wish to take up the exciting opportunity to work alongside other experienced individuals. These positions are in a volunteer capacity however and provide a fantastic opportunity to further develop yourself. Travel and accommodation will be covered for each team management official to attend most away fixtures and tournaments with the exception of apprentice coaches who are assisted to attend local tournaments only. Apprentice coaches are considered to be upcoming coaches who could benefit from further development and confidence gained through shadowing a Head Coach/Assistant Coach whilst gaining hands-on experience observing and interacting within the team environment.

At present we are seeking keen applicants for the positions of Lead Coach for the following range of teams:

  • U15 1st Team (Black) for a two year period
  • U15 Development Team (Gold) for a one year period
  • U17 1st Team (Black) for a two year period
  • U17 Development Team (Gold) for a one year period
  • U19 Team for a two year period
  • Lion Foundation Netball Championship Team (LFNC) for a two year period

Applications for Assistant Coach, Apprentice Coach and Team Manager will open  prior to Christmas 2014/early January 2015. We shall not be advertising for primary care/physio roles until after this time.

An indication of key commitments for the upcoming 2015 Representative season are detailed below:

  • U15 Trials Thursday 26th March, Sunday 29th March, & Tuesday 31st March 2015 held at the Hataitai Netball Courts
  • Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st May 2015 - Marjorie Jenden Tournament hosted by Kapi Mana Netball in Porirua
  • Sunday 14th June 2015 - Steffensen Tournament held in Palmerston North
  • Sunday 28th June 2015 - Molly Dorne Tournament held in Levin
  • Sunday 5th to Tuesday 7th July 2015 - Regional U15 Age-Group Championships held in New Plymouth (travel dates: depart Saturday 4th July, return Tuesday 7th July 2015) 

U15 trainings traditionally held Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings at Hataitai Netball Courts.  Some flexibility for change possible

 

Under 17 Representative Teamsome dates are still to be confirmed, possibility for further dates to be added.
Please note – while we aim to form two U17 teams in 2015 the development team will be dependent on available talent attending trials.

  • U17 Trials Thursday 26th March, Sunday 29th March, & Tuesday 31st March 2015 held at the Hataitai Netball Courts
  • Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st May 2015 - Marjorie Jenden Tournament hosted by Kapi Mana Netball in Porirua
  • Sunday 14th June 2015 - Steffensen Tournament held in Palmerston North
  • Sunday 21st June 2015 – Wellington Invitation Tournament at ASB Wellington (attended by Black only)
  • Sunday 21st June 2015 - ZM Combined Rep Tournament held in Wanganui (attended by Gold only)
  • Sunday 28th June 2015 - Molly Dorne Tournament held in Levin (attended by Gold only)
  • Monday 13th to Thursday 16th July 2015 - Regional U17 Age-Group Championships held in Mt Maunganui (travel dates: depart Sunday 12th July, return Thursday 16th July.  Attended by Black only)

  • U19 Trials Tuesday 28th April, Thursday 30th April & Sunday 3rd May 2015 held at the ASB Sports Centre in Kilbirnie
  • Saturday 30th May & Sunday 31st May 2015 – U19 Netball Central Zone Tournament held at the ASB Sports Centre in Kilbirnie
  • Sunday 14th June 2015 - Steffensen Tournament held in Palmerston North
  • Sunday 21st June 2015 – Wellington Invitation Tournament at ASB Sports Centre in Wellington
  • Warm up match TBC with other U19 teams prior to NZAGC, venue TBC
  • Monday 6th to Thursday 9th July 2015 – Netball New Zealand U19 Age Group Tournament held in Auckland (travel dates: depart Sunday 5th July, return Thursday 9th July)

U19 trainings traditionally held Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings at the ASB Sports Centre, Kemp Street, Kilbirnie.  Some flexibility for change possible

 

LFNC Representative Teamsome dates are still to be confirmed, possibility for further dates to be added

  • LFNC Trials Tuesday 21st July, Thursday Sunday 26th July, Tuesday 28th July 2015 held at the ASB Sports Centre in Kilbirnie
  • Warm up matches TBC with other LFNC & men’s teams prior to Nationals, venue TBC
  • Monday 28th September to Friday 2nd October 2015 – Netball New Zealand LFNC Tournament held at ASB Sports Centre in Wellington.

LFNC trainings traditionally held Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings in ASB, Kemp Street, Kilbirnie.  Some flexibility for change possible

 

Other possible rep team commitments:

  • Gold Coin Days – Saturday 23rd May 2015 & Saturday 27th June 2015collections at ASB Sports Centre venueFurther fundraising ventures to be confirmed during 2015
  • Plan & facilitate the Centre’s 2015 pre-season development sessions for potential trialists (Term 1 - dates TBC)
  • Observe U15 players attending 2015 Pre-Season Development Programme (Term 1 - dates TBC)
  • Observe & identify potential U15/U17/U19/LFNC trialists during Saturday Winter Competition prior to trials

  • Complete a Team Management Application in full and return as soon as possible.
  • Attend an interview for this position if required.
  • Attend regular meetings prior to and after representative team trials.
  • Attend all trials and pre-trials selections to confirm player selection (if appointed Selector).
  • Respond to requests from Netball Wellington Centre in a timely manner.

Applicants must also attend a debrief interview/meeting at the end of the representative season.
