NSW State Cup Day Two Summary – Open Divisions
Day two of the 2012 State Cup saw some thrilling Touch Football as finals places were on the line heading into Sunday’s games.
Port Macquarie received four seasons of weather in one day, but that failed to dampen the participant’s spirits, with all eager to impress on the second day of competition.
In the Men’s Open division, not a lot separates all 10 teams spread across the two divisions, with many of the semi final’s places to be determined in their final round games on Sunday morning.
In the Championship Trophy Pool A, the Wollongong Devils currently sit on top of the ladder and are undefeated with three wins and a bye after their four round games. The Penrith Panthers are also undefeated, with two wins, a draw and a bye, drawing with the Parramatta Eels who are in third place with the bye first thing tomorrow. Bankstown got their first win late this afternoon against the Eels, while the Wallsend Wolves have impressed in the Championship Trophy division but currently sit in fifth place on the ladder.
Nothing separates the teams in the Championships Trophy Pool B division, with both games tomorrow having a major impact on who will progress through to the semi finals. Easts Roosters currently sit in first position on the ladder, with two wins a draw and a bye, with Canterbury in second with one win, two losses and one draw – with a bye to come. The Hornsby Lions sit in third place, with two wins, one loss and a bye, with Manly in fourth with one win, one loss, one draw and one bye, with Wests currently in fifth place, with two losses, one draw and a bye.
Things look a little clearer heading into finals of the Women’s Open Championship Trophy division, with the semi finalists all but decided.

Reigning champions in the Women’s Open division, the Canterbury Bulldogs are in second place, with two wins, one loss and a draw, with Wests Magpies in third.
