Maitland Federation Centre


The Maitland Federation Centre is a "state of the art" sporting and community centre and home to Maitland Basketball Association and the mighty Maitland Mustangs.
 

The Federation Centre is Maitland’s largest and most decorated multi-purpose indoor sports facility. The Maitland Federation Centre has been labelled the most aesthetically pleasing and functional sporting centre in Country New South Wales (possibly Australia), and has brought both new opportunities and challenges. Since 2000, the Maitland Basketball Association has been fortunate to host several events which it could only have dreamt about previously, including:

  • NSW Country Junior Basketball Championships
  • NSW State League Senior Finals Weekend, the most prestigious weekend on the NSW Basketball calendar,
  • Training weekends for several of our NSW Representative teams
  • Under 14 Women's Australian Club Championships
  • NIB Hunter Festival of Sport - Netball Tournament
  • Several other non-basketball events including netball and volleyball competitions, Karate, Australian Indoor Tug-O-War Championships and baton twirling championships.
  • NSW Hockey Indoor Hockey State Championships

The Maitland Federation Centre is the venue for the Maitland Hockey Club's Indoor Hockey Competitions, which are conducted on Thursday evenings during School Term Four.  The competitions cater for all types of Hockey players in an environment that allows players to mix with and meet new friends.


Futsal Competiton
 

The Maitland Federation Centre also hosts Futsal Competitions conducted by Hunter Futsal Strikers, which are held on Thursday evenings during School Term Four, catering for a broad range of players.


The Maitland Federation Centre is this regions own world-class basketball and sports facility.
 
The Centre itself is centrally located within walking distance of Maitland Railway station and Maitland Park, offering excellent disabled access and parking for over 100 cars.

  • Learn-to-Play Classes and Miniball Competitions for infants and primary school students;
  • Junior Competitions for players in the format of Yr 7 & 8 Boys and Girls and Open High School Boys and Girls (Yrs 9 - 12);
  • Senior Competitions for social and competitive players - Division 1 and Division 2 plus Ladies Daytime Competition;
  • Implementation of a Junior Development Program by the Maitland Basketball Coaches Committee;
  • 14 Junior Representative teams competing in the New South Wales Central Junior League played on a home and away basis between Associations spreading from Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Newcastle and Coalfields;
  • State League Men, Youth Men and Youth Women's teams that participates in the NSW State League Competitions;
  • An Open Men’s and Women’s team competing in the Waratah Conference, which is a division of the Australian Basketball Association (ABA), which is a competition only succeeded by the National Basketball League (NBL).
