Looking for a new challenge?    Looking for a new of career?      Looking for a way to keep fit?

BECOME A MATCH OFFICIAL!

Where do I start?

It's not beyond you. Referees and Assistant Referees just like the Players must undergo intensive training to reach the top in their profession. It has to start somewhere! And here is your starting point.

South Australia Football Referees have the support of Coaches, a Recruitment & Development Officer and experienced Referees to assist them to reach their goals.

Take the next step!

The career path for a referee starts with an introductory Laws of the Game Certificate.  This course consists of 8 hours of theory sessions followed by a short examination.

After that you then take part in the first accredited course - Level 4 Junior Referee.  This course is also 8 hours in length and introduces participants to practical refereeing.

The last step is to register with FFSA as a match official and join a Referee Group of your choice and complete the two practical components of the Level 4 course.  Once this has been completed you will receive Level 4 Accreditation and you will begin your career as a Match Official.

Where are the Referee Groups located?

FFSA is recognised by Football Federation Australia as a Referee Group and is responsible for the training, education, development, coaching, and assessment of all registered match officials.  In order to officiate in FFSA sanctioned competitions, match officials must be registered with FFSA.

Registered officials may choose to officiate in FFSA Competitions or any other affiliated local associations.  These local associations are located in the Adelaide Hills, Noarlunga & Districts, and North-West and each have a Referee Group that services these competitions.

Affiliated Country Associations are located in Broken Hill, Mt Gambier, Renmark, Port Lincoln, Port Augusta, Port Pirie Junior Association, and Whyalla Junior Association.

Who can attend the courses?

Football is a game for EVERYONE. Men, women, boys and girls are all welcome to register and attend the introductory courses. The only restriction is that you must be at least 13 to begin active refereeing, however the introductory Laws of the Game Certificate is open to people of all ages

Special arrangements can be made for groups wishing to undergo training, including Schools, Clubs or other organisations.
